February: We visited the Telstra Communications Museum, Bankstown. Our volunteer guides were all retired ex PMG, Telecom, Telstra employees, it was fascinating to see all the old equipment and hear the first hand accounts of the operations. Velda even found some of the equipment she used to operate.
We topped the day off with a most enjoyable lunch. Another great day - thanks Ruth.

January: The Recovery Picnic held at Woy Woy was attended by 28 members and 4 visitors. This was a most enjoyable day with sunny weather, waterfront views and pleasant company.
Again, Janet’s Christmas cake was too nice to refuse!
In 2011 we enjoyed:
December: Christmas lunch at Empire Bay Tavern. Another successful event, it was well attended, the food the company was great. A fitting way to end the Probus year.

November: Bush Picnic. Combined with Bushwalking Club - see Bushwalking page.
October: Twenty one enjoyed our visit to the Henry Kendall Cottage and Historical Museum, first we had lunch and then explored the Museum, the Cottage and the outside displays. It is sometimes surprising to see items in a museum that we remember and used to use.
A good day was had by all.

September: This month we had a nostalgic trip down memory lane, an historic tour of Luna Park (ah.... memories.....). It really hasn’t changed much, but has a place in everyone’s heart. It was great to hear some of the history and even try out the rides again (well some of them). It’s nice to turn back the clock sometimes! We all agree, you are never too old!

August: Twenty three members enjoyed the lunch and company at Breakers Country Club, Terrigal.
July: Our outing this month was to Roses 2 Go at Warnervale, this is a hydroponic rose farm that was created about 9 years ago. First a seriously good morning tea and a short history of the farm and business, then we were taken on a tour and shown the various working aspects of the property - so many roses!. After the tour, some members couldn't resist buying a bunch of these beautiful roses.
The day didn’t end there, we then topped it off with an enjoyable lunch at nearby Warnies Cafe
June: A coach trip to Williamtown Air Base was the venue for our June Social outing. Several visitors and nine members of the Gosford Blue Waters Probus Club joined us on this interesting and enjoyable day trip.
After an escorted tour of the RAAF Air Base, we visited the Fighter World Museum which has a large display of memorabilia and numerous jet fighter planes of past and present, a trip down memory lane for most of us. Some of our group enjoyed sitting in the cockpit of a Macchi Jet Trainer and a Mirage Fighter!
We travelled on to Nelson Bay where the local RSL Club served us a sumptuous meal and then a comfortable trip home in our coach

May: WOW! What a fantastic day The Museum of Ancient Culture at Macquarie University was the venue for our outing. This small museum is full of artifacts dating back several thousand years - from Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Cyprus and the Near East. Museum staff gave an enthusiastic history of various items. Part of our tour was spent handling and examining numerous ancient artifacts some four thousand years old - a rare experience.
Our interesting and enjoyable visit to the university ended with lunch at the Staff Cafe
March: The beautifully restored Sydney Town Hall was the venue for our March outing. Twenty seven members attended, our tour guides took us 'back stage' and gave us a comprehensive history of the building, the various rooms, the stained glass windows and the general decor of the Town Hall.
Afterwards, members enjoyed a lunch at the 'Red Room Buffet @ 99 on York'. A really interesting and enjoyable day

February: Our trip to the Point Clare Marine Rescue Centre was very informative. The Centre, totally run by volunteers, is a 24 hour, 7 day a week service to the boating community around the Central Coast.
The 29 Probus members and 2 visitors were given an interesting talk on the services the centre provides by a capable and dedicated staff. The training requirements for the volunteers was also explained. After looking around the centre, including viewing the rescue boats and the radio room, our group enjoyed lunch together.
Rhoda thanked our hosts for their hospitality and an enjoyable day.
Members voluntarily gave donations to the work of the Marine Rescue Centre.
Another great outing.
